HANNEKE KIJNE: THE NEW CITY ARCHITECT OF HAARLEM

On Friday 11 April it was announced that Hanneke Kijne will be the new city architect of Haarlem. Kijne will succeed Willem Hein Schenk, who held this position for Haarlem until May 2023. Hanneke Kijne is a landscape architect and owner of MORE landscape, a design agency for landscape architecture and urban development. Kijne specialises in future and sustainability research, design of urban public space and advice on spatial development. In recent years, she has worked on the design and development of a climate-adaptive Prins Alexanderplein in the centre of Rotterdam.

During the Spraakmakend Haarlem presentation on Tuesday afternoon, April 22, she will introduce herself and discuss how she wants to fulfill the function of city architect of Haarlem and how she sees this city. After the presentation, Gabriël Verheggen, director of ABC Architectuurcentrum Haarlem, will talk to the new city architect.
