ILI CPD WEBINAR | Turning the grey to green: plant driven design in Sheffield by Sally O'Halloran, Associate Professor Norwegian University of Life Sciences

The Grey to Green in Sheffield, is the UK’s largest retro-fit SuDS project. It is an award winning project for multiple reasons but this talk will look at it in terms of planting design.

With plant-driven design led by landscape architect Zac Tudor and Prof. Nigel Dunnett it has led the way to inspire  spaces in cities that are more than just about managing water runoff. This talk will look at their approach and how you might turn the grey to green in your projects.

Sally O’ Halloran has been involved in horticulture/landscape management for over 30 years in a career that has seen her gain experience both operational (NBG Glasnevin, Longwood Gardens in America, RHS Wisley) and managerial (Kilkenny Castle Park, Emo Court and Heywood Gardens in Laois) in public gardens worldwide and most recently in higher education in the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Norway. 

Having trained and worked in the ‘Sheffield School’ her teaching and research focus is on plants used by landscape professionals in urban and rural landscapes and how they can be used to develop resilient and high impact planting designs.
